Recycle! Put it in the compost, not the landfill!

It is Easy being Green

Despite Kermit's song, it is easy being green. All one has to do is be aware of the impact of one's living and life-style on the environment, and then find ways to cut back. Here is a link to

Earth Charter

I was recently introduced to the United Nations Earth Charter, and I find myself wanting to let folks know about it. As the site above says:

The Earth Charter

Battery Recycling -- the Forgotten Polluter

I got a new camera and it suggests that one use rechargeable batteries; so I woke up thinking about batteries. I use a lot of them -- some rechargeable but most are not, and most of my life, I have just put them in the trash. But that is a little crazy and certainly very unreflective; so what not recycle batteries?

With just a little effort, we can keep a lot of heavy metals out of the landfills; so Raven's Mud Project is going to start recycling batteries. I am not sure what all of that means yet, but I will be reporting what I found out here.

Terrapass

My terrapass documents came today, and I got a bumpersticker, a transparent window tag for inside, and a decal for outside. I have registration cards for each certificate, and the amount and the valid dates of my carbon offset are marked. I plan to put them on the vehicles tomorrow and will report on the response thereto.....

Carbon Neutrality

I found myself watching a news piece on carbon credits and TerraPass.com. This is a group of folks who "sell" carbon credits which are then invested in green projects (alternative energies and production of alternative energy generation) that work to reduce carbon emmissions. These "credits "are based on one's "carbon production" in individual transportation and housing, for which the site offers calculators. It allows you to estimate what your carbon production is and offers you "carbon credits" to offset your carbon production.

Cleaning up the Site -- Feedback Requested

Dale and I are trying to remake this site to be more clearly related to our efforts to recycle computers and pass on open source software to others. So we invite all viewers of this site to make suggestions about what they would like or comments about what is confusing to them. Email sent to Contact will get the information to the administrators, and perhaps with enough feedback, this site can be useful to the creation of a greener economy where power derives from the informed and not just from the wealthy!

Memory Lane in the Dirty Business

I went today to the retirement party for a colleague, and although have been retired myself some 2 plus years, I really haven’t been around my former colleagues very much; so when they were asking me what I was doing in my retirement, I proudly got to say that I recycled computers and explained something of the Raven’s Mud Project

Where do we go from here.
